Research Interests

  • Multiscale materials modeling (friction, energy dissipation, and failure in multiscale structures and systems; continuum and atomistic modeling of interfaces; dislocations; plasticity; delamination)
  • Multiscale experiments and diagnostics (nanoindentation/scratch, failure mechanics via acoustic emission, nanoscale electrical contact resistance, SEM, DIC, surface roughness and wear track characterization, fretting and fatigue experiments, dynamic adhesion/stiffness/damping tester, pin-on-disk tribometers, experimental modal analysis, vibration testing)
  • Multiscale system identification & modeling (Dynamical system identification, structural health monitoring, damage detection, reduced order modeling in multi-physical complex systems, data-driven real time modeling of assembled structures)
