I do the fun stuff in our department: plan celebratory events, welcome guest lecturers to campus, manage our scholarship portfolio, and keep in touch with our alumni and donors. I think up strategic ways to improve the UW experience for our students, faculty, and alumni. I have a strong interest in communications around our academic degrees and classes, and creating better tools for improving the work we do all across the department.
A lifelong resident of Madison, I grew up in the neighborhood between Camp Randall and the Chancellor’s official residence. Three generations of my family earned Engineering degrees here, including my father (Mechanical Engineering) and my great-grandfather Professor Ray S. Owen who received his bachelor's degree in 1904 and became a Civil Engineering faculty member until his retirement in 1949.
