Research Interests

Research focuses on the behavior of organic toxicants in aquatic, soil and sediment systems with a particular emphasis on understanding the role played by natural organic matter in controlling their bioavailability, degradability and mobility. Major research interests include the elucidation of molecular mechanisms responsible for sequestration and time-dependent decline in bioavailability of sediment- and soil-associated contaminants and the interaction of humic substances with mineral surfaces.
